About Jim Thornton
My diving journey began off the north shores of beautiful St. Croix, in the US Virgin Islands. My wife and I were there on vacation celebrating our anniversary and I surprised her with an adventurous outing – Discover Scuba! We were both hooked. We were both certified by Saralynn at Vortex Spring, FL in November of 2017 and I knew, that for me, I would take the path to becoming a Dive Professional. In April of 2019 I joined the ranks of PADI Dive Professionals and became a PADI Divemaster.
One of my favorite things about being a Divemaster is assisting the Instructors and working with and interacting with students. The look on a someones face when they surface after breathing underwater for the first time is just priceless. And I love watching the “light bulb” moments and the massive smiles that appear when someone masters a skill. To know I may have helped a small bit in those accomplishments means the world to me.
I’m a website and database administrator by day, which makes my role as the Easy Diver webmaster and data guy a natural one. I’ve also discovered a knack for taking pictures, videos, and making them into movies. If you’ve seen an Easy Divers video over the last year or so there’s a good chance I was behind it. I usually have my GoPro with me so be prepared to smile and say “cheese”!
