Mermet Springs never disappoints, it is easily within our local driving area for weekend trips, and there are just so many great attractions for us to visit underwater. The 8.5 acre spring-fed quarry located deep in Southern Illinois is starting to warm up nicely and visibility can range anywhere from 15 – 60 feet. No worries on less than stellar visibility days because there are guidelines all through the underwater funland to keep us on track.

Mermet Springs is located on US 45 between Vienna and Metropolis, IL. As you enter the site, you’ll be amazed at the picturesque wooded backdrop and sheer cliff rising across from the cool-blue water. From the main diving dock, you’ll see schools of large bluegill, giant albino channel catfish and, further down, spoonbills! These prehistoric throw-backs have huge mouths and are known to grow larger than five-foot in length. Seeing these “paddle fish” up close will raise your pulse a bit, but don’t worry…they are filter feeders and eat microscopic critters that feed on the algae. All these fish are very friendly, almost tame. Mermet Springs prides itself on being well-organized, professional and most welcoming to our Easy Divers groups.

• Training dives and dives for fun & experience towards Easy Divers Passport with Direct and Indirect supervision

Trip Fees:

• Divers in Training $: includes: pre-trip water practice session, 2 days gear rental (not including wetsuit), 2 days diving fees, air fills, light lunch, water & snacks, direct PADI Instructor and Divemaster supervision.
• Certified divers: $ includes: pre-trip water practice session, 2 days gear rental (not including wetsuit), 2 days diving fees, air fills, light lunch, water & snacks, indirect PADI Instructor supervision & dive site briefing.
• Certified divers with equipment: $ includes: pre-trip water session, 2 days diving fees, air fills light lunch, water & snacks, indirect PADI Instructor supervision & dive site briefing. Divers in this category need to have their own lead weight and may rent a tank at the quarry.

6 divers are required for the trip to run at posted price.

Please note: Your trip deposit and payment is a promise to travel, reservations are confirmed and staff engaged, so please understand that trip money is non-refundable. Also, please make sure that you place your trip deposit as soon as you know you are going. We must have 6 confirmed travelers for the trip to run as scheduled, and divers in training are limited to eight so that we can insure maximum attention and supervision
